In April, I took part in the European Days of Crafts as part of Textiles in a Loud Voice, a gathering developed together with the Textile Creation Association, centred on the knowledge, processes, and memories that run through textile practice.
For this occasion, I brought part of the atelier to Casabonita, in Madrid, and conceived an experience focused on the transformation of textile into flower. Around the worktable, among tools, process samples, sculptures, and wearable objects, I shared three languages that are part of my practice: haute couture floral modelling, Tsumami Zaiku, and Chanhua. .

Savoir-faire | Haute Couture Flowers
Petal shaping through heat and pressure, using traditional millinery tools on silks dyed with organic pigments..

Tsumami Zaiku | つまみ細工
The demanding traditional Japanese technique of folding silk using precision tweezers..

Chanhua | 缠花.
Three-dimensional silk-thread embroidery originating in the Chinese imperial court.
More than a demonstration, it was a way of opening up the process and inviting a slower gaze. A way of showing that in craftsmanship, what matters is not only the finished piece, but also time, precision, and the intimate relationship with matter.
It felt especially meaningful to take part in a context that understands textiles as more than an object: as technique, as memory, and as a living cultural language.
My thanks to everyone who paused time and chose to come closer to listen to the language of fibres. To Casabonita, for welcoming us; to the ACT, for making this gathering possible and enriching it; and to Fundesarte, Oficio y Arte, and ECA Crafts, for continuing to value and give visibility to contemporary craftsmanship.
